Well, it has come down to finding a honeymoon hot spot for me and the almost Mrs. and I cannot decide on a place(s) to go. I'm looking for ideas or your opinion on my ideas. Wedding date May 13, 2006. We want a random sunny/beach destination spot for a week and another week being Dick and Jane tourist.

So seeing as it is a May wedding, I have ruled out the Southern hemisphere since I get enough cold weather in Boston. We plan to leave on May 15th and go away for two weeks or so. I will also have about $8000 for this trip plus the credit cards.

Idea #1: Fly to Paris, stay there five days. Fly to San Juan, stay a night and then take a cruise on Royal Caribbean, stay a post-cruise night, fly home.

Idea #2: Fly to San Diego, spend 3 nights there, take train to San Fran., drive to Napa, stay 3 nights, then fly to Maui for a week.

Idea #3: Fly to Nice, spend week in timeshare, tour vineyards in Alsatian region, fly to Norfolk, VA or Miami for week long cruise.

Idea #4: Fly to random Caribbean island (St. Lucia, BVI, or something like that)for a week, then fly to London/Paris for 6 night package.

Idea #5: You make it up! Tell me what you would do with two weeks.

As you can see, there is a trend. I want France or Italy, she wants beach/cruise/margaritas.

First of all, you need to come to a compromise. Why not do the beachy/cruise thing for your honeymoon, then on your 1st or 2nd anniversary do the France/Italy trip. If bride's not happy, nobody's happy. This is something you'll learn over the years of marriage (just hit my 18th anniv.). Why not show your bride that her desires are at the top of your list as you come together in this union.

I personally would choose Hawaii, only because I lived there and am a Hawaii Destination Specialist. There's lots to see and do and May is the perfect time to go. Prices are low, crowds are low, and the weather is ideal. You could cruise around the islands if you want, or go island hopping......2 nights Waikiki, 4 nights Kauai, 4 nights Maui, 4 nights the Big Island.

The ideas that you mentioned requires alot of travel time getting to your destinations, along with adjusting to time zones. Please keep this in mind if you try to combine Europe with the beach. Maybe you could do France/Italy and visit the beaches of the Med? There's also some great cruises of the Med that would stop in ports in the countries you like.

Where is the time you have set aside for "honeymooning"? All of these seem like extremely ambitious schedules to me.

How about 2 weeks in Sicily? Roman and Greek ruins, the Mediterranean Sea, wonderful wine, beautiful scenery, romantic hotels....

You could do 10 days there, and then a couple of nights in Rome or Paris on the way in or out.

Very wise advice.

And here's a little freebie for you - whyn ot choose an island paradise that has a lot of culture/history? Yes there are some, even in the Caribbean. Just go for one week or 9 nights and save the other vacation time for Europe later in the year.

Why not a 7 nt. mediteranean cruise, finish with 3 nights in Positano and 3 nights in Vence which is so romantic or if you prefer the big cities - end it with Rome & Florence?
