I don't know whether you can cast a blank ballot in California (at least Los Angeles County). They use the INKAVOTE PLUS. Basically you mark your ballot and then you put that ballot in a machine to make sure that you didn't overvote or undervote.
It'll be interesting to find out.
I voted early using Touchscreen voting.

Whatever else you may have to do today - GO VOTE! It's your right as a US citizen. It's also our way of hopefully sending a message to local, state and national politicians of our approval or disapproval.
I early voted too.

Well, hopefully everyone is out voting and that's why the board is rather dead today!
I'm voting this afternoon. Going to take my 2 exchange students out for a lesson on democracy in action, US style!

I was number 186 at my polling place at 9:30 AM est. That means an above, historical average turn out for my precinct based on past performance.
I didn't vote straight ticket, I didn't limit my choices to "major" party candidates, and I didn't use every vote I was entitled to.
I said in an earlier post that I thought the process would make me heart-sick. Well, it didn't; it just depressed me. I'm asking myself: "has all the talent fled Michigan?" Based on the choices I was given on my ballot, I have to think so.
Someone once observed, "you get the government you deserve." I musta been a real bad boy over the past four years. :(
I voted at 8:01AM this morning and was 215. In the last election we only had 301 people voting. We will go way over that today.

I don't suppose you'd consider moving to Ohio, would you Jim?
I know what you mean about being depressed, though. I voted early (absentee) last weekend so at least I could ***** and moan about each choice as I made it without having to worry about the election workers calling the loony bin on me while I was behind the curtain.

As I am out of town this week, I made a point to fill out my absentee ballot last week before leaving.
Now for the reason I went through the trouble instead of taking the lazy man's approach:
I had a friend who was a naturalized citizen. He saw it as his duty as a citizen to stay current on Washington's happenings and to vote. Well, in 2004 he got sick and ended up in the hospital. Basically, it was "if it could fail, it did". He got to the point that he knew he would be unable to vote, so he had his son get him an absentee ballot. Though he shouldn't have been out of bed, he went to the bathroom to fill out his ballot in privacy. Instead of waiting for a nurse, he attemtped to walk back to the bed himself and collapsed. His last conscious act was casting his vote (unfortunately, it didn't count as he forgot to sign it and passed before the election day). It doesn't matter what your excuse is, get out there and cast your ballot. As my friend said "You don't have a right to complain if you don't vote".
