This fight is already becoming ugly. With Santorum well behind at this point, his campaign has been supporting the Green Party candidate getting on the ballot, with money and workers. because they know that will pull votes from Casey.
Many Dems don't like Casey particularly, but at least he's not Santorum.
This is definitely a race where everyone will be voting against candidate(s) not for anyone.

Without taking a side in this, I want to make a similar observation regarding Hillary '08.
She has historically high negatives in polling of likely voters. This means she probably has a ceiling under 50%. In other words, it will take exceedingly good fortune for her to get a majority of votes (over 50%).
Watch for the seeds of a credible third party candidacy to emerge in the coming months. My guess is that the Clintons will prop up General Wesley Clarke. He could take votes from the GOP because he can speak with some authority on the military/strategic goings on. There is also a decent chance that the GOP will suffer a split from its right on the immigration issue. If either scenario plays out, HRC stands an excellent chance of winning the Electoral College.
WJC did not receive a majority vote in either presidential election. As of now, it is unlikely his wife will, either.
