Hello! Hoping to get advice on a problem my sister is having.

My sister is traveling to LA in August. She lives in Savannah, GA, but was going to leave her dog with my parents in Kentucky since it's an extended stay. Without thinking and out of habit, she purchased the tickets from Priceline originating from Savannah rather than local to my parents.

She's tried calling American Airlines and they said it's Priceline's problem and basically they said good luck getting anything from them (Priceline). She's looked through the Priceline site and it says, obviously, no refunds or reschedules. She also read to me from the site that basically they can't make changes because of the airlines. The finger pointing seems the easiest option for the two.

My sister still will need tickets, she just wants to change the itinerary. I suggested she call Priceline and assure them she'll still be making a purchase but would like for them to essentially "buy" this ticket back. After all, there's plenty of time for them to re-sell this ticket.

My questions are what's the best way to go about getting a refund or reschedule from Priceline? Is there another source she should pursue? We discussed the possibility of her advertising in the Savannah newspaper or maybe a local travel agent could sell it for her?

Any advice is appreciated!

Contact priceline, exchange the ticket for whatever fee $100.00 plus for the correct ticket. No refund means that. Also the ticket may well be non exchangeable if it is really low price. If so just throw it away as a learning experience. Next time try a live hometown agent, they are more likly to help than the big boys.

FYI - Most airlines do not allow name changes on tickets. Therefore, they have no value when re-sold. If you see someone offering one, in the paper for example, it's probably worthless.

Regarding Priceline - I know more people who've gotten into a pickle with them! Basically you give up a lot to get those rates - and sometimes the rates aren't even that good. Buyer beware!

Some great american company ripped you off???

Welcome to the internet!!!!

Just because the company has TV ads that does not mean that they won't just steal your money. Informercials have come a long way....

Don't Think Twice! is a slogon of Orbitz for sales. Ask ANY professional LOCAL travel agent and they will tell you to think several times before buying an airline ticket.

The LOCAL travel agent probably has kids in your same School system, and may attend your Church or Club.

We are NOT out to rip you off!!!! When will you learn????

Thanks Bert. I think she'll try that. I know she offered to pay whatever fee necessary to American, they just said they couldn't help. You're right, it's already a learning experience for her. She's just too used to booking flights from Savannah.

Calm down, Mr. Wood. You're giving the "friendly travel agent" moniker a bad name.
