I happened to read some of the posts to the "Seat in full recline - Right or Rude?" With regard to that issue, it's your right to be comfortable, and I don't think it's that much of an inconvenience for the person seated behind you.

My pet peave though occured when my partner and I were making a return trip from DC to San Diego after visiting his family. We had our seats in full recline, were watching a movie on our personal dvd player and were resting with our heads leaning against each other. All of a sudden, I feel something poking up over the armrest from behind our seats. Apparently, the person behind us, in full white trash style, had reclined her seat, taken her shoes off, and decided to use the space between our seats as a foot rest, with her toes poking through and hitting us in the arms.

Right or wrong, tired, uncomfortable, or whatever, it's gross. If you're that uncomfortable on a plane, take the train, they have designated foot rests. It may take you a little longer, but my elbow doesn't catch your foot fungus.

I had to giggle at this one. Yes, the same type of thing has happened to me more than once. I would have given her big toe such a pinch. (Then washed my hands.)

It's like the people who slump down and put their knees or feet against the back of my seat, jabbing me in the back from coast to coast. Very rude.

And I can't tell you how many times I've seen people in bulkhead seats throw off their shoes and stick their bare feet up against the wall. If you can't fly with dignity, take a bus people! :?

Everybody's feet get hot and swell on a flight. When that happens to me, I just loosen my shoes and pop only my heel out, feet still on the floor. That's adequate relief and shouldn't be offensive to anyone. If one MUST kick off their shoes inflight, they should at least bring along a pair of slippers.

You then go on to state that you spent the cross-country trip in full recline, watching movies on your personal DVD player. Well, if I were the person seated behind you I would not have been able to read, work, do a crossword or even cross/uncross my legs for the the duration of that flight because YOUR seat was in my already very limited space. If that doesn't constitute "an inconvenience" I'm not sure what does. And heaven forbid that anyone needs to leave their seat - especially the traveller on the window!

As far as I'm concerned, if you want to fly cross country fully reclined, then fly business or first where it's truly not going to massively inconvenience anyone. Otherwise, please, please exhibit some thoughtfulness and limit yourselves to a slight recline.

Oh, and no, I don't really enjoy having your head practically in my face for the entire flight - thanks for asking.

If a person were to stick his/her bare foot into my personal space, I would announce very loudly, "OOH, you have one classic textbook case of toenail fungus! AWESOME! 'Mind if I get my magnifying glass?! I've got to see what's happening under that toenail! Fungi fascinate me!"

With empathy in my voice, I would continue, "My, that looks like it is so painful! Please see a doctor as soon as possible. Don't worry, the good news is that medication should clear it up in six months to a year! I hope you have a good health insurance plan."

People who don't keep their paws clean should keep their paw covers on!

That is so ick! How nasty is that? Ummm seems like this person was playing the adult version of "smell my feet".

I would've found a pillow and/or blanket, covered up the feet and then leaned on them.....hard.

For the individual that suggested first class for those who want to recline their seats all the way back, there is no more room up front either. In my opinion it would be best for the airlines to reduce the degree of recline. I have not found it any more comfortable in full recline than half recline. So for the most part, I do not recline at all.

The whole foot thing is pretty gross, but my guess is it was their way of getting back at you for having your seat backs in their lap.

Now THAT is funny!

Sardine, next time you travel, why don't you pick up some Lamisil brochures from your doctor's office and pass them out as needed. ;)

Or pull out your nippers and start clipping their nails. If it's a guy, you could complete the pedicure with nail polish. Have fun with it! There's really nothing else to do up there anyway.

The space in front of you belongs to the person reclining in front of you. The airline made that decision and allocation for you by setting the recline angle on the seat in front.

As far as I'm concerned, if you want to fly cross country and have more open space in front of you, then fly business or first, or recline your own seat.

Putting your foot on the armrest in front because the seat in front is reclined is not getting back, and not getting even, but rather is being rude in the first place. You deserve to have it pushed off the first time and pinched the second time.

By the way, if someone needs to leave their seat, especially the traveller on the window, the persons between him and the aisle and also persons reclined in front, are responsible for letting him through.
