Iam also a freugent flyer. but I never seem to get an upgrade. I have no kids just me and my husband. not that I' am complaning. I am use to flying coach. but it would be nice to fly 1st class or business. my question how do I get an upgrade? without paying an arm and a leg? we will me flying to Puerto Rico in January of 2006 for out 10th wedding anniversary. See if your company can get them for you. You are just a frequent flier to the carrier and unless you are up there, to be honest, you are small potatoes--they will keep your biz for ten years and give you a free ticket for 40,000 points.

Now if your company does the business with the carrier, I am sure they are getting some perks--free tickets or upgrades. If not, they can certainly ask. I would see if they have any and go from there. If not, ask if they might approach the carrier on your behalf "Hey we have a great employee we would love to reward, she is already flying on you to San Juan and would love to upgrade her--do you have an upgrade?"

As an agency, we receive different upgrade certificates for many airlines (again because we are a larger customer than the client) some are space available (if there is space before the plane takes off, you are good to go) and space positive (you can confirm it in advance depending on your FF status), but we use these a lot.

Ask, you have nothing to lose.
