"RCCL taps former FBI security expert for new role (06/05/2006)

Royal Caribbean Cruises hired Gary Bald, the former executive assistant director for the National Security Branch of the Federal Bureau of Investigation to the newly-created position of vice president of global security, effective June 12.
Bald joined the FBI in October 1977, holding various positions over the years. In November 2003, then-FBI director Robert Mueller appointed Bald deputy assistant director for counterterrorism operations, counterterrorism division. In his most recent position at the FBI, Bald was in charge of counterterrorism, counterintelligence and intelligence programs worldwide, overseeing 19,000 federal employees. Bald served in the position from Oct. 29, 2004 through June 2.
In moving from government to the private sector, Bald said, “I couldn’t be more excited about coming to work for [Royal Caribbean Cruises]. For nearly 29 years I have worked for the finest organization in the world at what it does, and I wanted to work for an organization that has an equal standing in its industry.”
In his new role with Royal Caribbean, Bald will be “assigned broad responsibilities for assessing, managing and continuously improving companywide security,” according to a company statement."
