Has anyone ever claimed car rental damage against their MasterCard? I just got a denial letter that didn't make any sense to me and I am trying to sort out what to do next.
The denial said that no coverage was provided when other insurance was available. The thing is that I had declined all the car rental coverages because I thought my MasterCard would cover any problems. The rental occurred in Canada (BC specifically) and my auto insurance company does not write any business there (I think all auto insurance in BC is provincial-run). The damage was vandalism, not collision.
I don't want to post all the details here, and I haven't had a chance to call the claim center since I got the letter on Saturday (I am usually commuting or working when they are open). I think I am even past the 180 day period now, so it will probably be difficult to get a reversal at best.
