Hi Mary,

Can you tell us about the story. You have to register with Travel Mole to see their stories, and for a casual user they ask for too much personal information to register.

Thanks.

Here you go. Not nearly as intriguing as I had thought (hoped?)......not like the brothels at Schilpol!

The Vacation.com CruiseCentre has developed what it calls a unique cruise product.

"Vacation Vignettes" are a select group of one-a-kind sailings that go beyond the regular cruise experience and add amenities such as the services of a concierge, exclusive shore excursions, "Bon Voyage" cocktail parties and more.

Each "Vignette" is accompanied by a Vacation.com Concierge Host who is available throughout the cruise. He or she can help choose the right land tour or recommend the best place to buy local products.

Dick Knodt, president and CEO of Vacation.com, said:

"The Vacation.com Concierge provides peace of mind to the travelers who can rest easy knowing that someone is available to help with any potential difficulties* -- and when on vacation that is a value in and of itself."

Vacation.com is a travel services marketing organization currently serving a network of more than 6,000 travel agency locations across the US and Canada.

I agree that they ask too much personal information, so I just made some stuff to see what the story is about. If you're a member of Vacation.com, this isn't news, but if you aren't, here is the story:

Thanks to you and John for letting us see the article's particulars.

Now that I see it, I'm not particularly impressed. I've been getting the same on Celebrity cruises for a while now by merely taking a Concierge Class stateroom or Suite. They have a person (group of personnel, of course) set aside for passengers in these staterooms and suites to help you with everything on the cruise, including off ship excursions. They do everything a concierge from a big high class hotel does and more. You get priority on most everything, as well. There are special parties and get togethers for this group of passengers too. Plus on Celebrity and Crystal we've arranged via our travel agent special pre and post cruise tours and on a European cruise a special tour just for us in Italy where we were picked up at the pier for the excursion and dropped off at the end, in plenty of time before the ship sailed.

In my opinion, there's nothing particularly extraordinary about what this is. You just need to choose the right cruise and work with a travel agent to plan the whole trip well.
