View Full Version : Booking Buddy?
<_< Booking Buddy (so vigorously recommended on Tripso) seems not to be so great. Many of the discount airlines (for example, Southwest) are not represented and therefore, BB does not give the BEST prices. Anyone know of a site that lists ALL airlines? (One that isn't controlled by the faltering so-called majors?) Arti

Southwest and many of the other discount airlines do not participate in third party pricing sites (and GDS) specifically so they can control their inventory.
Southwest has taken sites to court for scraping their fares from their website for comparison.
Think of it this way..if you made a product and sold it for $100 and that is all you did, you would have a good grasp of what you could earn.
Now let's say someone else takes your product and sells it for $80, because they can sell a similar product at $130 and make up for the loss. Well then, they have just taken your customer. Yes, your revenue is the same--you get $100 no matter, but now someone else is marketing to your customer, and it is likely that that customer now will go to supplier B first rather than you.

Farechase---you mean the site that has the following disclaimer on its front page....

I don't think so. It works just like Kayak and the other search engines. It goes through all of the airlines' websites (except United for some reason) and posts their fares.

There's also http://www.mobissimo.com
If I'm not mistaken, Farechase was recently acquired by Yahoo!.
Also, there's another player called http://www.farecompare.com, but it plays in a difference niche.
