View Full Version : Ottawa hotels
So, I am going to Ottawa, ON in a few weeks and need to know where to stay. I'm not sure what there is to do there, but I will be seeing a hockey game my only night there and then I have the whole day to sightsee. So where is the best hotel to use as a base? I'm really concerned about parking here as Canadian cities typically have no parking for SUVs.
I'm going to Montreal the next night - again for a hockey game - btu I already have a decent hotel staked out there.

I was in Ottawa last year and stayed at ARC the Hotel. It was in a great area, within walking distance of some great restaurants and fun places! I got a great rate and the hotel was very clean, very, very comfortable and the service was some of the best I have had in quite some time. I am generally not a fan of modern type decor since it tends to be less comfortable, but that is definitely not the case at the ARC. The very comfortable chair in my room had a gorgeous throw on it that was so cozy to wrap up in while watching TV. While the rooms may seem a bit small if someone is used to Marriott-type hotels with 2 queen sized beds, the room was spacious enough for my husband and I. The bathroom was also great with wonderful products and a rain shower. I would highly recommend it especially if you can get a good rate. I think I paid about $130.00 US dollars, but that was last year.
Added: Just saw your thing about the parking, they have parking and while I wasn't parking an SUV, I could have. Forgot what they charged for the parking, but I don't recall being upset about the amount.
Thanks! I decided to book at the Albert At Bay Suite Hotel. It seems like it may be an upscale Best Western (so probably the same as a holiday inn). I was told that it's a few blocks from the Parliament but a short ride to some of the other sights. We only have a short time there, so now we are taking recommendations for Breakfast and lunch.
