Absolutely amazing. Here's an excerpt from a thread over on the Delta board at FlyerTalk:

Posted at 9:24 AM yesterday:
APB!

I was on flight 748 SEA-CVG Sunday night in seat 7C. I left a binder in the seat back pocket that's made out of dimpled football leather. Delta lost and found does me no good since the guys are in India, I've placed calls to CVG and SEA hoping that plane is on the same route and if they can check for me, but in the mean time, if you're in an Ex-Song 757 this week, could you please please please check 7C's pocket.

There is something extremely important for me in that binder. PM me if found. And then, only 2 hours later, at 11:26 AM:
Thank god for lurkers! I thought it was a long shot posting on FT, but it's been found. Thankfully the couple that found it realized the sensitivity of the documentation inside it and held on to it to try to track me down.

Thank you FT!

K., you're right. That is about the most amazing thing I've ever heard about the Internet.

It also shows that there are some nice people and Good Samaritans out there, even in this rush-rush, survival-of the-fittest world we live in. The Internet can be a extremely great tool when used in a good way.

I'll do one better than that as far as the good Samatian goes. A few years ago our staff went to NYC for the weekend on a fam. It was the
weekend after New Years, and the weather was fab so there were lot's of people out on the street. We were walking from our Matinee over to Sardi's to have a drink. I had my cell phone velcroed to my purse strap. Some one ran into me, and it came off unbeknowst to me. One of the other gals I was with was walking behind me. She picked it up and handed it to someone thinking it was theirs. Come to find out that the couple who eventually wound up with it in their possession called the Alltel Customer service number, reported they had the phone. Alltel called me, and the couple actually Fedex'd my phone back to me.(at their own expense) My faith in humanity was instantly restored by their kind generosity. ;-)
