LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Alex Trebek, the long-time host of the popular television quiz show "Jeopardy," suffered a minor heart attack at his home Monday night.

Alex Trebek has hosted "Jeopardy!" for 23 years.

Trebek, 67, was recovering at a local hospital, and it was not clear when he would be released, a representative of the show said. He is expected to resume taping the show in January.

I love the show and hope he recovers quickly. I know what he's going through, having gone through it myself.

Is there really such a thing as a "minor heart attack"? I suspect that anyone suffering one would tell you none of them are minor.

Having had one, I think there is. It was very scary, it hurt, but mine didn't cause heart damage, so it was definitely "minor."

Mine ended up really being an important warning. It got me to the doctor who found two of my coronary arteries were essentially completely blocked and I was able to have them replaced through open heart bypass surgery. It saved my life and has enabled me to live normally again and at full blast, with few restrictions (you can never get through bypass surgery scott free).
