I travelled back East to have Thanksgiving with my family, for the first time in years, and my sister decided to try Turkducken. None of us were impressed. It was boneless and even had a bit of stuffing in it. Since they were pretty small, she got two, at about $25 each were definitely pricey. We all thought it was too much like a regular turkey breast, even though she made an awesome herb butter to baste it with.
Now, the 19 side dished and desserts were all incredible, so non of us suffered too much.
Next year it will be back to the big turkey with lots of crispy skin!

Linder, where were you, and where did you get it? It really does make a difference on who made the thing.
I know the ones around here, the area of the country where they originated, you will never find one so small that you need to purchase 2, and if you can find one at a $25 price tag, you're getting a massive bargain. A medium sized turducken around here runs about 40 pounds, and cost about $75!

John is right the first one we ever had was from somewhere in LA. It seems like they were the thing about 15 to 17 years ago, then came fried turkey. My dad loves them but the rest of the family prefers regular turkey, baked, smoked or fried.

We were in southern New Hampshire, and she ordered it through her local upscale grocery store. It was boneless, and said it served 4. It probably could have served more than that, but that's why she got 2.
Now I'm curious if this was typical, or some weird variation?

It sounds like what she got was just a turducken "breast" and not the whole thing.
