Having recently returned from there, *and* being rasied in a German-American household, I found this to be great advice, very true, and very, very funny.

I particularly recommend the two short articles: "Brutally Honest: Have You Gained Weight?", which explains why this and other similar questions are not insulting when asked by a typical German, and " The German National Pastime: Whining, B*tching, Moaning," which aptly describes several members of my family...:p :lol:

Thanks. I read some of the articles. They are so true! It reminded me of when I lived there. One incident which comes to mind involves shopping and candy.

One Sunday evening, about 7pm, I went to get my Baby Ruth candy bar. It was gone! Of course I couldn't go out and buy one so I was furious! I really let everyone in my famly have it. No one fessed up to taking it until several years later.
To this day they still talk about how they had never seen me so mad.
