According to Snopes, this is false. Walter Reed will not be accepting letters or packages for "any recovering soldier". Even though it is a great idea.

Killjoy! .....

Fortunately, there are many other worthy causes which do similar. Since you started this thread, John, why don't you post your next favorite.....

Ralph's Supermarket, our local supermarket, is collecting various food items to send to Soldiers. It even gives you suggestions on what to buy.

This one still checks out

They did this last year and are repeating it for Thanksgiving 2007.
If you go to the site, pick a card and fill it out, Xerox will send it to one of our soldiers who is away from home over the Holiday.

Anyone know a similar site which has adult cards to send? Where's Hallmark when you need them?

Glad to see I'm not the only one with a warped sense of humor.

Oh Phil...you can't find some great adult cards. Unfortunately (or fortunately...probably for you.) you have to visit your local nudie shop to find one. :p

Come on, folks!

I was referring to the fact that the original cards discussed were all drawn by a couple of first graders. I would be embarrassed to send any of those to anyone, most of all to our grown up troops.

I should have said "mature cards" ... no ... those are for the old codgers. So what word do we use now to refer to people of an age that you would want to speak with them?

I guess I should have known better..... oh well, I have set my "adult" alert in the computer for the next time.

But the question remains ... where are the, (ah I got it! ...) professional-looking cards? ...the cards I don't have to sign with crayon?
